Monthly Featured Artists

Scandals has been happy to lend its wall space to local artists for several years, and 2017 is no different.  New art shows open on first Thursdays and go for 1-2 months, so come on down and check out the latest show.  We love the opportunity to be a showcase for all the amazing talent found within and around our community.  If you are an artist or musician interested in presenting your talent to the Scandals’ family, email Munro.

Brad Barnhurst

Brad Barnhurst is a paper mosaic artist currently residing in Portland Oregon. Each of his mosaics were made completely from paper, cutting and gluing the pieces together forming kinky scenes and colorful characters.

He enjoys examining his own gay identity through images of male figures making out, cladded in leather gear, and proudly waving rainbow flags. These portraits were inspired from personal experiences and fantasies of a place where sexual desires are expressed unashamedly and freely. Brad has hosted several art shows during various Gay Pride festivals, Mid-Atlantic Leather in DC, Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, Mantastic NW show, multiple locations in San Francisco. and other 21+ venues across the US.

Today Brad manages several art co-ops, “Artistic Portland” and the “Alberta Street Gallery”, where he also sells his work full-time. In 2017 Brad started his own monthly publication titled “(HOMO)saics” that features other gay erotic artists, providing a platform for them to show their work and talk about their inspirations.

Brad contributes to the LGBT community as much as he can by donating art to local fundraisers, providing artwork to queer/leather events, and by displaying his paper mosaics to the public, as he believes gay visibility should be everywhere.

Brad plans to donate portions of sold work in August to Outside In, a local non-profit organization who’s mission is to “help homeless youth and other marginalized people move towards improved health and self-sufficiancy” – OutsideIn.org
